«Living is a learning process.»
My relationship with nature began long before I took up yoga, breathing techniques or environmental education. I grew up amongst the pine forests and marshes surrounding the River Piedras, on the coast of Huelva, and in the rural landscapes of Galicia alongside the River Corzán. Those places sparked a curiosity that still guides my work today: understanding the relationship between people and the environment that sustains them.
I have been teaching yoga since 2009. Over the years, I have guided training programmes and explored the body as a space for observation, learning and self-care. At the same time, my practice of competitive freediving and the study of pranayama led me to explore breathing in greater depth as a bridge between physiology, mindfulness and experience.
Over time, these lines of inquiry began to converge. An interest in nature, physical practice and breathwork ultimately gave rise to a single question: how do we learn to inhabit the body, consciousness and territory?.
As an environmental educator, I have been involved in initiatives relating to landscape interpretation, the popularisation of the natural sciences and raising environmental awareness. Next academic year, I will be starting a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences at the UNED, marking a further step in my interest in integrating scientific knowledge, physical practice and an understanding of the local area.
From the Sierra de Aracena, alongside Helena Chacón — a PhD in Geology, co-founder of Holística Nature and my life partner — I develop projects that combine yoga, breathing techniques, environmental education and human ecology. This work seeks to build bridges between knowledge, experience and the land, based on the conviction that caring for people and caring for the living world are part of the same endeavour.
